I would add: Avoid the burritos. They serve the standard awful, chewy "tortillas," piling on the rice and beans--you might as well go to Chipotle or something. Moreover, the tacos are only passable, though the inclusion of queso fresco is nice. The way to think of this place is something like the "empanada store." Sort of like Marco and Luca could be thought of as the "dumpling store." Some places only really do one thing well, so you go there for that one thing. Cinema Taco is like that.

I lived for years in Tucson, and could not get enough of the fabulous tacos. Since moving to Cville, I searched in vain for any decent tacos. La Michoacana comes pretty darn close. The whole gestalt of the place--how it looks, the staff, and the tacos--signals that it is The Real Thing. I hope they get rich. Now, the only thing we still need is a place that can make real flour tortillas. La Michoacana has the corn tortillas down. As far as I can tell, good flour tortillas exist nowhere east of, say, Denver. I can't figure out why flour tortillas are so hard to get, but there it is. Anyway, cool blog!

we usually go on the weekends, and call Friday during lunch hours (12pm-2pm) to make sure he knows we are bringing a crowd.
He's a character for sure, but to me it only adds to the pulled pork experience.
if you want to go for a week day lunch, it's only available wed-fri. but the most important thing to do is call first.

The bar scene at the Southern is totally lame. You have to get really aggressive (I mean sexually...no seriously I did walk behind the bar and that was the only way to get someone's attention) to get a beer and pay for it. It really shouldn't be that hard. The music scene is awesome, but seriously...can't they get one of those beer trucks from Fridays After Five in there!?

pupusas are awesome!....especially when served with their traditional salvadoran accompaniment, curtido (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Curtido). if el pollo loco makes a pupusa with the pork al pastor and cheese (and they're decent), you'll lose your mind.
